The main similarity is that the conflict is upon two girls that live on an island in the Caribbean and both have a conflict within another character in their story. The story Little cog burt dealt with a women (Moria) coming to piece over the decision of letting dark children join in on the Christmas party. This is just from the way she was brought up and how things were done as a kid. Her husband thought it would be right to let all the kids join because it seemed like the patriotic thing to do and also everyone else was doing it as well. Moria couldn't wrap her mind around the thought of them doing it. Throughout the story she comes to conclusions and has a few discussions which helped her come together on the idea of the dark kids joining the party. The story the Cotton Candy could relate in similar way due to the girl (Lola) in that story wanting
