Tetiyette and The Devil

In the novel "Tetiyette" the author tells us about a story that takes place in Guadalupe. Through a story there is a mother who tried to set her daughter up with who she thinks is the right man for her. Every man the daughter comes in contract with she rejects them and tells her mother that she does not wanna be with him. In the village they live in there is a devil lurking the people of the village. The devil is dressed in really nice clothes and  has all types of fancy gold on. The devil had an eye on Tetiyette and took his shot to get with her. Tetiyette says yes and her and the devil end up getting married. The mother tries to warn Tetiyette and tells her that she is the devil. She tells her to stab him with a pin and if he oozes blood then he is the devil. She does it and blood oozes out so she knows her mother is right and she still decides to lie and say the blood flows out. The warning her mother gave her were right and after they got married the devil began to try to "eat her". The daughter cries out for help but her parents turn her back on her because of the warnings she was provided. The little brother of the family took charged and saved his sister from being swallowed.
The purpose for the author writing this is to show how women in Guadalupe are supposed to marry.
The target is attended for young woman and it is to show the unfair treatment and abuse can be given in a relationship. He conveys his message by showing this girl who is provided with three good men in front of her but instead she chooses the wrong man who is most likely to treat her the was treated. After realizing the mistake she made it was to late for help from her parents and the only person who could save her was someone who truly care for her which in this case is her little brother.
My personal opinion is that she was wrong for not listening to her parents who obviously saw the best for her but I do not agree with the way the way the parents turned their back on her and left her to get swallowed. They should have understood that she was young and saw that she knew she had made the wrong choice. The influence of the devil on someone young can have a very big impact on their decisions. When Mama and Papa said "I have already warned her to beware" it just seems to harsh to treat your daughter when you hear for her cry of help.
